Name: Rebecca Gibbons
Title:
Associate Children's Pastor
Basic Personal Information:
-
I
am married to wonderful man, David, and we have one fantastic son. I
also have two dogs, a cat, and, unfortunately, a bearded dragon (our
son’s). David and I both grew up in
Ozark, AR but we
lived most of our married life in
Fayetteville.
David is in the 142d Fires Brigade which is what brought us to Van Buren
and is how we came to Heritage UMC. Pastor Wes is a chaplain in the
142d and was David’s chaplain during a mobilization. We are continually
amazed at how God works in our lives to bring us where we need to be.
My call to ministry – why it is my passion:
-
I started in
children’s ministry three years ago. I started simply because I had
time and they needed help. I very quickly fell in love with Children’s
ministry. I realized that children are the “heritage” of our church. I
know that God has very clearly spoken to me and asked me to serve Him
through the children of this church and this community. I love seeing
children come to learn more about Jesus and their roles in His Kingdom.
To watch a child worship the Lord, to hear them speak of Jesus’ love, to
see them serve the church, and to see them anxious and excited about
learning His Word, is to truly feel the Father’s love and to experience
His blessings. I can’t imagine being anywhere else!
