Wes graduated from high school in Siloam Springs, AR, then attended Washington University in St. Louis.
He and Allison married on December 20, 1986. They moved at that time from St. Louis to Tulsa.
Wes completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Tulsa and received a commission
as a second lieutenant in the United States Army Field Artillery on the same day.
Wes received an "early out" and a reserve commission from the Army to attend seminary
(due to the draw downs in the military in the late 1980’s). He earned his Master's of Divinity (M.Div.)
degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois
(north Chicago). He was ordained as a deacon in the North Arkansas Conference in 1991 and received his
elder's orders in 1994.
Since 1992, Wes has served Pea Ridge and Oakley Chapel (Rogers) Churches as senior pastor and Central
United Methodist in Fayetteville as Pastor of Discipleship. He came to Heritage in June of 2001.
Wes has also served since 1993 as a chaplain for the Arkansas Army National Guard.
From 1993-2008, he served with the 142d Fires Brigade. During 2002 and 2003, the Army called
him to active duty. He spent 11 months serving as the chaplain for Cluster 5, Task Force Guardian,
Operation Noble Eagle II. He was again mobilized October 1, 2007 and deployed to Iraq in 2008
with the 217th BSB and elements of the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He served as the
Garrison Chaplain for Contingency Operations Base Adder, Tallil, Iraq. In March of 2009, he was
appointed as the State Chaplain for the Arkansas National Guard.
Wes enjoys playing guitar, working out with friends (doing P-90-X!), reading, going to movies,
and canoeing. He is also an avid cyclist. He loves to “disengage” while riding country roads on his
Bacchetta recumbent bike! He tries to spend most of his free time with his family:
Allison, Lindsay, and Libby!
